Ingredients You’ll Need

For the Dhokla Batter

  • 1 cup besan (gram flour)

  • 1 tbsp semolina (optional)

  • 1 tsp lemon juice

  • 1 tsp sugar

  • 1 tbsp curd (optional)

  • ½ tsp turmeric

  • 1 tsp green chili paste (optional)

  • Salt to taste

  • ½–1 tsp Jain Bliss Chili Flakes (optional, for light spice)

  • Water as needed

  • 1 tsp ENO fruit salt

Tip: Adding Jain Bliss Chili Flakes to the batter gives subtle heat and a beautiful speckled look.

For the Tempering (Tadka)

  • 2 tbsp oil

  • 1 tsp mustard seeds

  • 1 tsp sesame seeds

  • 6–7 curry leaves

  • 2 chopped green chilies

  • ½ cup water

  • 1 tbsp sugar

  • 1 tsp lemon juice

  • Fresh coriander

Step-by-Step Instructions

Step 1: Create the Batter

Mix besan, semolina, sugar, salt, turmeric, lemon juice, and curd. Add water slowly and whisk till smooth. Rest for 10 minutes.

Optional flavour boost: Mix in Jain Bliss Chili Flakes before adding ENO.

Step 2: Steam the Dhokla

Grease your plate/tray. Add ENO, mix gently, pour, and steam for 12–15 minutes. Let it cool slightly.

Step 3: Prepare the Tadka

Heat oil, add mustard seeds, sesame seeds, curry leaves, and chilies. Add water, sugar, and lemon juice. Simmer for 1 minute.

Step 4: Finish & Garnish

Pour warm tadka over the steamed dhokla. Let it soak for 5 minutes. Cut into squares.

Final flavour magic: Sprinkle Jain Bliss Peri Peri Masala or Jain Bliss Chili Flakes on top for a delicious, modern twist.

Variations Using Jain Bliss Flavours

1. Peri Peri Dhokla

After steaming, lightly sprinkle Jain Bliss Peri Peri Masala for a fiery, fusion-style dhokla.

2. Chili-Flakes Infused Dhokla

Add Jain Bliss Chili Flakes inside the batter + on top after tadka for a double-layer flavour.

3. Cheesy Peri Peri Dhokla

Top warm dhokla with melted cheese + Peri Peri Masala — great for kids’ snacks.
