Jain Dhokla Recipe (No Onion, No Garlic)
Soft, Spongy, Sattvik — With a Jain Bliss Twist!
Fluffy, airy, melt-in-the-mouth — Jain Dhokla is a timeless favourite.
But here’s a delicious upgrade: add a sprinkle of Jain Bliss Peri Peri Masala or Jain Bliss Chili Flakes to give your dhoklas a light chatpata kick. 🌶️💛
Ingredients You’ll Need
For the Dhokla Batter

1 cup besan (gram flour)

1 tbsp semolina (optional)

1 tsp lemon juice

1 tsp sugar

1 tbsp curd (optional)

½ tsp turmeric

1 tsp green chili paste (optional)

Salt to taste

½–1 tsp Jain Bliss Chili Flakes (optional, for light spice)

Water as needed

1 tsp ENO fruit salt
Tip: Adding Jain Bliss Chili Flakes to the batter gives subtle heat and a beautiful speckled look.
For the Tempering (Tadka)

2 tbsp oil

1 tsp mustard seeds

1 tsp sesame seeds
-
6–7 curry leaves

2 chopped green chilies
-
½ cup water
-
1 tbsp sugar
-
1 tsp lemon juice

Fresh coriander
Step-by-Step Instructions
Step 1: Create the Batter
Mix besan, semolina, sugar, salt, turmeric, lemon juice, and curd.
Add water slowly and whisk till smooth.
Rest for 10 minutes.
Optional flavour boost: Mix in Jain Bliss Chili Flakes before adding ENO.
Step 2: Steam the Dhokla
Grease your plate/tray.
Add ENO, mix gently, pour, and steam for 12–15 minutes.
Let it cool slightly.
Step 3: Prepare the Tadka
Heat oil, add mustard seeds, sesame seeds, curry leaves, and chilies.
Add water, sugar, and lemon juice.
Simmer for 1 minute.
Step 4: Finish & Garnish
Pour warm tadka over the steamed dhokla.
Let it soak for 5 minutes.
Cut into squares.
